Phnom Penh, 14 February 2022 (TDI): Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen along with a high-level delegation arrived in Cambodia after concluding a four-day visit to Seoul, the Republic of Korea.
Whilst there he co-hosted the World Summit 2022 under the theme of “Toward Peace on the Korean Peninsula”. Keynote speakers and participants from 157 nations participated in the World Summit 2022 to explore the prospects for peaceful reconciliation of the Korean Peninsula.

The World Summit 2022 lasted from 10-13 February. Hun Sen co-chaired the Summit with Ban Ki-moon, the former Secretary-General of the UN, and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, co-founder of the Universal Peace Foundation (UPF).
During his address on 11th February, the Cambodian Prime Minister underscored the significance of a permanent peace treaty on the Korean Peninsula. Likewise, he called upon all stakeholders to foster trust for the sake of peace-building and people-centric partnership for the peaceful reunification of the two Koreas.
Hun Sen underscored that war cannot end the war. Moreover, he stressed peaceful negotiations for a win-win solution. As a result, the Summit endorsed two outcome documents on 13 February, unanimously.
First is the Seoul Resolution 2022: Toward Sustainable Peace and Prosperity on the Korean Peninsula and second is the Cambodian Prime Minister’s proposal; Two States Toward One Nation: One Peninsula, One People, One Culture.
Furthermore, on 12 February, the Summit officially presented the 5th Sunhak Peace Prize Award to the Cambodian Prime Minister for his dedicated leadership over many years and contribution towards stability, economic development, as well as peace in Cambodia and the Southeast Asian region.
During his visit to South Korea, Prime Minister Hun Sen also met with the President of South Korea, Moon Jae-in, Speaker of South Korean National Assembly, Park Byeong-seug, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, co-founder of UPF, and Ban Ki-moon, the former Secretary-General of the UN.
