Cambodia, Turkey to Boost Bilateral Military Cooperation

Phnom Penh, 27 April 2023 (TDI): Cambodia and the Republic of Turkey are determined to take bilateral military cooperation to unprecedented heights during a meeting on April 26, 2023.

The commitment was made on April 26 at the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) headquarters in Phnom Penh.

The attendants include Commander-in-Chief Gen. Vong Pisen, Turkish Ambassador to Cambodia Ülkü Kocaefe, and Colonel Ismet KeNaRoGLu, Turkish Military Attaché to Cambodia.

Colonel Ismet KeNaRoGLu expressed his admiration for Cambodia’s quick improvement in all sectors, especially the military.

Gen. Vong Pisen emphasized Cambodia-Turkey relations and expressed confidence to strengthen for the benefit of both countries.

Cambodia’s military is not only capable of preserving its sovereignty but also of dispatching troops to carry out humanitarian operations for global peace under the auspices of the United Nations, Gen. Vong added.

Both parties discussed several issues of mutual interest, including economic, trade, and security cooperation.

They agreed to work together to enhance military ties and exchange experiences in areas such as peacekeeping, counterterrorism, and defense technology.

He also thanked Turkey for its military assistance, including the provision of military vehicles and equipment.

The two parties also discussed international and regional issues of mutual concern, including the situation in Syria, the South China Sea, and the fight against terrorism.

They pledged to continue their cooperation on such issues and work towards peace and stability in the region.

Both sides look forward to working closely with Turkey to strengthen our defense capabilities and maintain regional peace and stability.

Turkey has advanced military capabilities in areas such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), while Cambodia needs to modernize its military equipment.

By sharing technology and equipment, both countries can improve their military efficiency and effectiveness.

Cambodia and Turkey have been building a military relationship for several years and have made significant progress in enhancing their cooperation.

Both countries share similar challenges and have similar goals for regional stability and security.
