Manila, 10 September 2021 (TDI): The United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken had a meeting with Philippines Secretary of Foreign Affairs Teodoro Locsin. During the meeting, US Secretary of State Blinken reaffirmed the significance of US relations with Philippines.
Secretary Blinken highlighted the importance of the US-Philippines partnership on the 75th anniversary of the alliance and the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the US and the Philippines. He also called on China to abide by the arbitration ruling issue in 2016 in accordance with the UN Convention on the Laws of the Sea (UNCLOS).
Both Secretaries also exchanged views on the increasing economic engagements, human rights and Covid-19.
