Shared History of Relations between Belarus and Pakistan
The diplomatic relations between the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Republic of Belarus were formally established on February 3, 1994.
It was the beginning of a partnership that has grown smoothly over the decades.
The year 2019 held special importance as both nations celebrated the 25th anniversary of their diplomatic ties, reflecting on a quarter-century of collaboration and mutual respect.
The relationship gained crucial momentum following the opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Islamabad in November 2014, a move that underlined Belarus’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Pakistan.
This diplomatic presence has since served as a support for increased engagement and dialogue between the two nations.
Furthermore, Belarusian-Pakistani relations occurred on May 28–29, 2015, when President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus made his first official visit to Pakistan.

This historic trip was acknowledged shortly thereafter by Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who visited Belarus on August 10–12, 2015.
The leaders of both nations also engaged in productive discussions on the sidelines of international forums. President Lukashenko and Prime Minister Imran Khan of Pakistan met twice in 2019 and 2021 during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summits in Bishkek and Dushanbe, respectively.
These meetings stressed the shared commitment to increase dialogue and cooperation on regional and global issues.

Belarus and Pakistan worked well together to solve important global and local issues. This collaboration facilitated by a robust mechanism of political consultations between their foreign ministries, with five rounds of talks held to date, the most recent taking place in Minsk on July 27, 2021.
