Beijing wants to promote cooperation with OIC : Pakistan's FO

Islamabad, 24 March 2022 (TDI): The Spokesperson of Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) Asim Iftikhar said that Beijing is willing to promote partnership and cooperation with the OIC countries. Foreign Office Spokesperson made these remarks today while addressing a media briefing in Islamabad

For this matter, Pakistan invited China as a special guest to the recently conducted 48th Session of the OIC CFM, which just concluded on March 23.

The Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi was the special guest at the session. Furthermore, the Session was held in Pakistan’s federal capital Islamabad. It was a two-day meeting from March 22-23.

China and OIC

China has remained Pakistan’s all-weather friend. It has helped Pakistan in an array of sectors and domains. Multiple projects have been and are being done in partnership with China.

Asim Iftikhar stated that Beijing, China can assist Islamic countries in multiple ways. Multiple projects can be done. Keeping this and the will of Beijing in mind, Wang Yi graced the OIC CFM meeting with his presence. It is expected that cooperation will further grow and deepen.

OIC outcomes in brief

Asim Iftikhar briefly touched upon the outcomes of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting during his media briefing.

He made a remark that OIC CFM was a landmark event in Pakistan’s diplomacy. Also, it proves once again the leadership role that Pakistan is playing in the Islamic world.

Then he referred to the resolutions that have been adopted at the meeting. He shared that 140 resolutions covering multiple domains have been adopted. The domains are :

  • Political
  • Security
  • Economic
  • Social
  • Humanity
  • Finance
  • Minority Issues
  • Corruption
  • Terrorism
  • Islamophobia
  • Arms Control etc

He further added that among the 140 resolutions, 20 resolutions were either sponsored or co-sponsored by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Not only that but an action plan has also been by the OIC Contact Group on  Kashmir. In a nutshell, the successful hosting of OIC CFM in Pakistan is indeed a matter of great pride and achievement for Pakistan.
