Rabat, 19 February 2022 (TDI): Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union has praised the efforts of the Moroccan King, Mohammed VI. The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union honors him for his ongoing efforts to support the Palestinian cause and defend Jerusalem.

On the occasion of the 32nd session of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, Moroccan King’s efforts were supported unanimously. His efforts were not only supported for his support for Palestinians, but also as a Chairman of the Al-Quds committee Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency.

Joint Statement

The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union collectively called on the United Nations Security Council (UNCS) to implement all the adopted resolutions regarding Israel’s illegal occupations. The statement further noted the illegality of colonial settlement in all forms without discrimination.

Additionally, they counsel the UN Security Council to compel the Israeli authorities to end the ongoing atrocities and ethnic cleansing of innocent Muslims of Jerusalem, Sheikh Jarrah, and Silwan neighborhoods.

Moreover, the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union claimed that the mentioned places are facing bulldozing of houses and seizure of lands and donated properties.

Furthermore, the Union stressed financial assistance for the people of Palestine. For this reason, the body of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union asked the international donors to support the people of Palestine.

It also called on the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) to support and carry the mission until the implementation of the United Nations General Assembly resolution on Palestinian rights.

Morocco’s Support to Palestine

In addition to maintaining good relations with Palestine, Morocco also supports the Palestinian people through different programs. For instance, support is grunted to Palestinian people by Bayt Mal and Al-Quds Agency.

Both, Bayt Mal and Al-Quds are the standing committees of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The Chairmanship of the Al-Quds committee is under the kingship of Morocco for three years.

Al-Quds was established in July 1975. This year in January, the agency granted $1 million in funds for social development projects in Jerusalem to benefit orphans, youth, and needy families for Palestine.

Previous year in May, Morocco’s King Muhammad VI ordered an aid of 20 tons for the Palestinians. The aid included food, medicine, and blankets and was carried to the West Bank and Gaza through military aircraft.
