Islamabad, 17 September 2021 (TDI): UN High Commissioner for UNHCR, Filippo Grandi, visited Pakistan. The Visit started today, 17th-September 2021.
The follow-up visit is after concluding Filippo Grandi’s UN High Commissioner for UNHCR 3-day visit to Afghanistan. Androulla Kaminara, Ambassador of the European Union to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, hosted the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
The meeting included ambassadors from the countries participating in Solutions Strategy for Afghan Refugees (SSAR). The constructive dialogue between the ambassadors and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees discusses the unfolding refugee situation in Pakistan. The meeting contemplated the main agenda of SSAR like Support Voluntary Return and Assistance to Host Countries.
The dialogue also pondered upon the humanitarian need of Afghanistan. The ambassador also discussed strategizing a plan to support the humanitarian aid collectively. Androulla Kaminara, Ambassador of the European Union to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, expressed her gratitude for hosting the UN High Commissioner for UNHCR Filippo Grandi on his visit to Pakistan.
