UN High Commissioner for Refugees appreciates Pakistan

Islamabad, 18 September 2021 (TDI): Filippo Grandi, UN High Commissioner for UNHCR, visited Pakistan on 17th-September 2021.

On the Visit, Filippo Grandi met with the Chief of Army Staff Qamar Jawad Bajwa. In addition, the Ambassadors of the European Union to Pakistan and the Solution Strategy for Afghan Refugees (SSAR) also met Filippo Grandi. The visit of the UN high commissioner for Refugees certainly discussed the unfolding situation in the neighborhood of Afghanistan.

UN High Commissioner for UNHCR, Filippo Grandi, furthermore had constructive talks with the government officials to discuss the Refugee Situation in Afghanistan. He expressed that there is still room to negotiate with Interim Government of Afghanistan over Human Rights. Filippo Grandi using Official Twitter, applaud the efforts of Pakistan in Afghanistan.

UN High Commissioner for UNHCR, Filippo Grandi, expressed his gratitude to the Government of Pakistan for the air and ground support in Humanitarian Operations. Additionally, e acknowledged Pakistan’s Efforts in hosting the Refugees since the start of the Great War on Terror. Filippo Grandi, UN High Commissioner for UNHCR, also stressed the necessity of Pakistan support and humanitarian commitment in Afghanistan.
