African Foreign Ministers attended Global Coalition Meeting

Africa: 28 June 2021(TDI):  Today Rome is hosting the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Coalition against Daesh co-chaired by Minister Mr. Luigi Di Maio and Secretary of State Mr. Antony Blinken.

Foreign Ministers and representatives from 83 countries participated in the meeting.

Various African foreign ministers including FM Mr. Mohammad Abdirizak of the Federal Republic of Somalia, FM Mr. Sameh Shoukry of Egypt, and FM Mr. Nasser Boutita of Morocco, etc. participated in the meeting.

The meeting of the coalition against Daesh is in order to discuss the international efforts to confront the terrorist organization. The extremist threat of Daesh is growing and making its grounds in different parts of Africa, especially in the West African part Sahel.

The participants of the meeting expressed their commitment to sustain pressure on ISIS in Iraq and Syria and to countering its network globally, including in Africa.
