Afghan Foreign Minister meets Turkmenistan’s Ambassador

Kabul, 30 September 2021 (TDI): Afghan Acting Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Kabul, Hoja Ovezov.

Both leaders discussed trade and electric power projects between Kabul and Ashgabat. During their discussion, special emphasis was given to the TAPI project. The Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) pipeline will be a natural gas pipeline running across four countries. The TAPI pipeline will begin in Turkmenistan and traverse Afghanistan to enter Pakistan and India. It is expected to facilitate a unique level of trade and cooperation across the region.

Both leaders agreed that TAPI Pipeline is in the interest of the people of Afghanistan and the people of Turkmenistan. This project is expected to boost the revenues of Ashgabat via the sale of gas. Afghanistan will also receive benefits through transit fees. This project will bring peace and security to the region.
