Beijing, 16 November 2021 (TDI): The 6th China-Africa People’s Forum kick-started in Beijing, on Monday. President of China, Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to mark the occasion.
Xi Jinping elucidated that the world is rapidly evolving. It is experiencing great change and development. China and Africa, both are undergoing new challenges and opportunities. Therefore, the two need to work jointly to ensure the common values of humanity; development, peace, equity, democracy, justice, and freedom.
Over the years China and Africa have steadily strengthened mutually advantageous ties. They are working to create a community with a shared future for humankind. President Xi highlighted that the two ought to enhance cooperation for the sake of prosperity and development.
The China-Africa People’s Forum will serve as a bridge to fortify China-Africa’s comprehensive strategic partnership. Subsequently, it will lead to the realization of the concept of a China-Africa joint community as well as an understanding between the two peoples for a shared future.
China has close ties with African countries; bilateral as well as multilateral. The relationship between the two can be traced back to the 7th century when direct contact between them was established via sea routes. Both collaborate in the political, cultural economic, and trade realms.
Another manifestation of strong China-Africa ties is the Forum on China-Africa Co-operation (FOCAC). It is a platform that serves for collaboration and dialogue in diplomatic, trade, security, and investment domains.
FOCAC, a triennial high-level forum between the states of Africa and China; is an integrated framework overseeing Chinese African relations.
