KSRelief has also begun a public fundraising effort in Saudi Arabia to help flood victims in Pakistan. Saudis have been invited to donate via the “Sahem” app or website or to put funds in one of the center’s bank accounts.

So far, 83 international charity flights have landed in Pakistan, bringing tonnes of much-needed supplies for millions of people devastated by monsoon rains and floods.

Floods in Pakistan

Pakistan has experienced unprecedented torrential floods this year during the monsoon season. Since June 14, 2022, floods in Pakistan have killed 1,481 people.

The floods were induced by heavier than usual monsoon rains as well as melting glaciers that followed a severe heat wave, all of which are linked to climate change.

In addition, according to Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the floods have destroyed or damaged more than 1 million houses and impacted more than 33 million people.
