Young Pakistani Innovators Present Climate Solutions at UK High Commission Event

Islamabad (TDI): Young innovators from across Pakistan showcased climate-focused technologies and ideas at a United Kingdom-supported event, highlighting the growing role of youth in tackling environmental challenges and promoting sustainable development.

The event, titled Youth Climate Catalysts,” brought together entrepreneurs, policymakers and environmental experts to present solutions addressing climate change through technology, renewable energy and waste-management initiatives.

It was organized by the British High Commission in collaboration with Oxford Policy Management under the UK–Pakistan Green Compact, a partnership aimed at strengthening climate resilience and accelerating clean energy initiatives in Pakistan.

Participants demonstrated a range of innovative projects, including renewable energy technologies, waste-reduction systems and artificial-intelligence-based tools designed to tackle environmental issues.

The event served as a platform for young entrepreneurs to present ideas that could help communities adapt to climate impacts while promoting greener economic growth.

The UK–Pakistan Green Compact, valued at about £35 million, was launched to support climate-related initiatives in the country, including the transition to clean energy and the protection of natural ecosystems such as mangrove forests.

Officials emphasized that youth involvement is crucial for addressing climate risks in Pakistan, one of the countries considered highly vulnerable to climate change impacts.

Young Pakistanis are driving the ideas and energy needed to tackle climate change head-on,” said Sam Waldock, the UK’s Development Director in Pakistan, according to a statement issued after the event.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Climate Change also welcomed the initiative, saying the government views youth engagement as essential for advancing climate action.

Climate Change Ministry Secretary Aisha Humera Chaudhary praised the participants for developing community-focused solutions and urged continued support for youth-led innovation through enabling policies and partnerships.

The event formed part of broader efforts to encourage young innovators to develop practical climate solutions and connect them with policymakers, investors and development partners.

By bringing together stakeholders from government, academia and the private sector, organizers hope the platform will help transform promising ideas into scalable projects.
