Sana’a, 5 October 2021 (TDI): The President of Yemen, Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi, met with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice President of the European Commission Josep Borrell, along with the accompanying delegation.
The President welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for the efforts undertaken by the European Union in the support of Yemen. He apprised the delegation about the prevalent situation of the country, specifically the ongoing Houthi aggression. Yemen is striving for peace and stability but the Houthis keep on disrupting it.
The High Commissioner of the European Union, on his part, stated that the EU is keen to reinstate peace in the country and will continue to offer support in this regard. Furthermore, it is imperative to resolve the humanitarian crisis through peaceful methods. The EU has been helping Yemen in various aspects, specifically by offering relief and humanitarian efforts. Besides, it also supports the constitutional legitimacy in the country.
The European Union Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Patrick Simonet, the Director of the Presidency Office, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, and a number of other officials also participated in the meeting.
