Xi Sees Bright Future for China-Kyrgyzstan Ties

Astana (TDI): Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed confidence in the future of China’s relationship with Kyrgyzstan, saying there’s considerable room to grow in trade, investment, and new industries.

Meeting with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov in Astana during the China-Central Asia Summit, Xi reflected on the progress made since the two countries established diplomatic ties 33 years ago. “Our relationship has reached an all-time high,” he remarked.

He recalled their previous meeting in Beijing earlier this year, describing it as productive and encouraging. According to Xi, the discussions led to several important decisions that are already boosting cooperation between the two nations.

Xi said that more would need to be done on trade and economic relations, infrastructure developments such as the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, partnerships in green energy and artificial intelligence, and mineral resources.

He also noted that it is “necessary to promote closer people-to-people ties and educational exchanges, as well as joint projects in tourism and healthcare.” “Let’s focus on practical initiatives that improve people’s lives,” Xi said.

Touching on broader global dynamics, Xi said both countries have benefited from globalization and should stand together against unilateral approaches. He emphasized the value of a fairer, rules-based international economic order.

As China and Kyrgyzstan prepare to take turns leading the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Xi said mutual support will be key. “Together, we can help shape a stronger SCO and a more stable region,” he added.
