Dar Urges De-escalation in Iran War During Call with Bahrain’s FM

Islamabad (TDI): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday emphasized the importance of de-escalation and dialogue in the Middle East during a phone conversation with Bahrain’s Foreign Minister, Abdullatif Bin Rashid Al Zayani.

The discussion comes amid heightened tensions following Iran’s ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel, which erupted after the February 28 strikes that killed Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In response, Iran has reportedly carried out attacks on neighbouring countries hosting US military bases, including Bahrain.

According to a statement from Pakistan’s Foreign Office, Dar and Al Zayani “exchanged views on developments in the Middle East and the broader region, expressing grave concern over recent attacks, including those in Bahrain.”

The call followed an incident at Bahrain’s Al Ma’ameer oil facility, where a strike reportedly caused a fire and material damage. Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa condemned the attacks, calling them “unprecedented” and stating they “cannot be justified.”
