China, Egypt partnership: Example of Solidarity

Beijing, 5 February 2022 (TDI): China’s President Xi Jinping stated during a meeting with the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, that China and Egypt, “share similar visions and strategies in defending their own interests”.

President Xi Jinping praised enhanced political trust between the two countries with reference to joint cooperation between the two in fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

Likewise, he enunciated that the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the African country is an epic example of “China-Africa, China-Arab, as well as China-developing world solidarity”.

Aside from that, President Xi underscored that China and Egypt share common visions and strategies to pursue common development, defend their interests, enhance their people’s wellbeing, along with promoting fairness and justice in the world, as it undergoes changes unseen in a century.

Abdel Fattah el-Sisi is visiting China to participate in the inaugural ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022. The Egyptian President is one of the world leaders and heads of major international organizations who are visiting China for the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games.

Upon arrival, the Egyptian President was warmly welcomed by the Chinese authorities. The meeting between the counterparts is significant as the Chinese President didn’t leave China ever since the outbreak of Covid-19 in 2019. In this regard, President Xi held various meetings on the sidelines of the Beijing Olympic Games with the visiting leaders.

Abdel Fattah el-Sisi stated during the meeting that Egypt-China relations are deep-rooted and have historical connotations. Furthermore, the Belt and Road Initiative has enabled Egypt’s economic development.

Besides, owing to the strong partnership between China and Egypt, Egypt is keen to participate in the initiative for speeding up its own development through boosting bilateral collaboration in multifarious fields.
