Xi Jinping held a phone call with Fiji’s PM

Beijing: June 27, 2021-(TDI): The Chinese President Mr. Xi Jinping held a detailed phone call with Fijian Prime Minister Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama.

In the phone call, the Chinese premier reaffirmed the Chinese support to the island. The meeting focused on the vow of China assisting Fiji in order to help the small island state rebuild itself better along with an expedited response to contain COVID-19, assistance to recover and boost the economic system, and also to combat climate change.

President Xi also underlined the commitment of China to strengthen partnership through the Belt and Road Initiative in recognition of the 46 years of diplomatic relations between Fiji and China.

PM Bainimarama recognized the Chinese efforts in promoting collaboration through BRI projects and their approach to helping the Asia pacific countries in their efforts to achieve sustainable recovery. He also expressed his best wishes to the Chinese premier on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Communist Party of China.
