World Drug Day

-

Islamabad, June 28, 2021 (TDI) — Nationwide cycling rallies conducted by UNDOC took place to raise awareness among people in the fight against drug abuse. The event included UNDOC Country Representative Jeremy Milson, musician Shehzad Roy, WHO Pakistan official Dr. Palitha and Resident Representative UNDP Pakistan Knut Ostby.
Crimes related to drugs and narcotics remain a global issue and are especially severe in the South Asian region. The illicit trade of drugs and narcotics has proven to exacerbate social and political conflicts among people. Organized groups and terrorists benefit from such crimes while the millions remain vulnerable to the ramifications of drug abuse. The UN has partnered with governments and presented ambitious agendas to curb such crimes as seen on this occasion.
The event was also encouraged by the Government of Pakistan, the Anti-Narcotics Force, and the Ministry of Narcotics Control Pakistan.
