Quetta, 23 August 2023 (TDI): With the cooperation of the German embassy in Pakistan, UN Women Pakistan organized the inaugural “Women Police Conference on Gender Responsive Policing” in Quetta, Balochistan, with the goal of promoting gender parity in Justice Sector Institutions.
With the assistance of the German embassy in Pakistan, UN Women Pakistan is aiming to achieve gender parity in the police, courts, and prosecution.
On August 22, Governor Balochistan Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar proposed guaranteeing women’s engagement in all sectors and creating a separate female police station at the level of each division in the province to handle their needs.
He made these remarks while speaking at the Women’s Police Conference, which was held at a local hotel in the provincial capital of Quetta with the assistance of UN Women, the German Embassy Islamabad, and the Police Department.
The Governor told the attendees of the Women’s Police Conference that the colour and beauty of society were linked to the presence of both men and women, and that the combined efforts of both could guarantee us a society free of all forms of exploitation.
The governor stated that speaking up for women’s rights and powers, particularly the removal of gender discrimination, was a positive step. Furthermore, he emphasized that a financially independent woman may actively participate in obtaining her and other women’s rights and options.

Furthermore, Additional Inspector stated that UN Women has been extremely helpful in educating Balochistan Police and encouraging them to take positive actions in the department.
Sharmeela Rassool, country representative, UN Women Pakistan in the conference addressed that it is crucial to create an enabling environment for women police personnel for increasing women in police.
Although she stated that women’s police conference is the evidence that Balochistan is changing and Police must represent the community it’s serving. Moreover, she said that women must have representation in police force to achieve this objective.
Inspector General of Police Balochistan Abdul Khaliq Sheikh, former Centre Roshan Khursheed Broacha, former Speaker Balochistan Assembly Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani, and a huge number of police officers and female police personnel were present on this event.
