White House Welcomes Pakistan’s Nobel Prize Recommendation for Trump

Washington (TDI): The White House has welcomed Pakistan’s move to nominate President Donald Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, calling it a sign of appreciation for his role during a tense military standoff between India and Pakistan in May.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the nomination at a briefing on Monday.

“Pakistan has acknowledged President Trump’s efforts to help avoid what could have become a full-blown war between two nuclear countries,” she said.

Islamabad recently sent a formal recommendation to the Nobel Committee in Norway, citing Trump’s role in helping end the May 2025 conflict between India and Pakistan, erupted after the Pahalgam incident.

The fighting lasted just under four days. A ceasefire was reached on May 10 after American officials stepped in to mediate.

The military confirmed that 53 people in Pakistan were martyred in the conflict, including 13 soldiers and 40 civilians. While Pakistan targeted Indian military installations and airbases.

In the US, a Republican congressman also nominated Trump for the 2026 Peace Prize, citing his role in easing tensions between Israel and Iran.

Trump, who has repeatedly expressed frustration over being overlooked for the Nobel in the past, once said, “They won’t give it to me, the Nobel is for liberals.”

Despite that, he’s now receiving international praise for his involvement in recent peace efforts.
