Visa, 1LINK Set to Transform Digital Payments in Pakistan

Karachi, September 11, 2024 (TDI): VISA – a leading global payments company – and 1LINK, Pakistan’s largest payment service provider, have entered a strategic partnership to revolutionise the country’s digital payments.

The partnership focuses on the integration of Visa’s Alias Directory Service into 1LINK’s network, which will simplify international money transfers, improve the user experience, and protect sensitive financial information.

VISA’s Senior Vice President for North Africa, Levant, and Pakistan, Leila Serhan highlighted the partnership in driving this agenda forward—specifically around promoting financial inclusion and expanding financial services for underserved communities.

In his remarks, the CEO of 1LINK, Najeeb Agrawalla echoed similar sentiments on how collaboration will create a faster and more secure mode of receiving remittances. This would further add to the economic development of Pakistan.

The VISA-1LINK partnership is in line with the vision of the State Bank of Pakistan towards a robust digital payment infrastructure, as revealed by the accelerated adoption of digital payment channels in their Q2 2024 report.
