Antalya, 10 March 2022 (TDI): Venezuelan Vice President, namely Delcy Rodriguez has met with Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov in Antalya, Turkey, today.

Ambassador of Russia in Caracas, Venezuela namely Sergey Melik Bagdasarov, and Venezuelan Foreign Minister Felix Plasencia also attended the meeting.

Venezuela is a staunch supporter of Russian President Vladimir Putin, and President Nicolas Maduro has declared support for his Russian counterpart since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.

The meeting has been held five days after US officials met with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in the midst of the crisis surrounding Russia’s invasion.

Russia’s Ambassador to Venezuela, Sergey Melik Bagdasarov has also shared about the said meeting in a Twitter post by displaying an accompanying image of Vice President Rodriguez and Russia’s Foreign Minister Lavrov strolling side by side.

According to the state television of the Venezuela, Vice President Delcy Rodriguez has condemned “the hegemonic powers” – an insinuation to Western powers that have enacted the severe sanctions on Russia for its expedition over Ukraine.

Further she added that these cumbersome sanctions are basically a cumulative practical stance against the Moscow. President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro has blamed the NATO and US as the basis of this entire deterioration in the world.

Regarding Russia-Ukraine Crisis, he has claimed that NATO and US have violated the 2014 Minsk deal in which Russia and Ukraine have aimed to end the conflict.

Venezuela’s Foreign Minister, Felix Plasencia will attend a diplomacy event in Istanbul from Friday to Sunday which has been organized by Government of the Republic of Turkey.
