Tashkent, (TDI): The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has announced a significant increase in its commitment to education in Uzbekistan, with an additional funding allocation of $6.1 million to its ongoing Development Objective Grant Agreement with the Ministry of Preschool and School Education.

This new funding raises the total investment in the DOAG to over $47 million, reinforcing USAID’s long-term dedication to enhancing the educational landscape in the country.

This financial boost aligns with Uzbekistan’s 2030 Development Strategy, which aims to create a more robust and inclusive education system.

David Hoffman, USAID Mission Director in Uzbekistan, emphasized the importance of investing in education, stating, “Investing in education is an investment in a brighter future for everyone”.

By providing quality education, we empower individuals with the skills and knowledge they need, paving the way for a more

prosperous, equitable, and stable society, he added.
Hoffman said that every dollar spent on education is a step toward building a better tomorrow for all.

Additionally, the funding will equip youth in Grades 8-11 with essential entrepreneurship and economic skills, preparing them for future employment and active participation in Uzbekistan’s evolving economy.

USAID’s Investments

Since the signing of the DOAG agreement in 2019, USAID’s investments in Uzbekistan’s education sector have made significant strides.
The initiatives have focused on enhancing early grade reading and math proficiency, improving English language fluency, advancing information and communications technology skills, and developing employability skills among youth.

These efforts are designed to create a more skilled and competitive workforce, ultimately contributing to the country’s economic growth and stability.
