Washington, 21 August 2021 (TDI): The President of the United States of America, Joe Biden spoke to Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to appreciate Qatar’s role in the ongoing evacuation of US citizens from Afghanistan.
Biden acknowledged the enduring relationship between Qatar and the US. He admired the support of Qatar in bringing the US citizens, staff, and personnel back to their country. Without Qatar’s support, this largescale airlift of thousands of people would have been impossible, he said. Both leaders exchanged views about having continued coordination in the future as well. They also welcomed the summit of regional states expected to be held in Baghdad by the end of August.
