Investing in National Power

This national security strategy breaks down the dividing line between domestic and foreign policy as both are interlinked. Investing in national power is necessary to maintain a competitive edge.

The future of a country’s success depends on the resilience and strength of its people. In this regard, the US through this plan has devised an innovative and modern industrial strategy. This will help people to bolster their economic opportunities.

The plan is to increase the power of the private sector through strategic public investment. Recently the United States has reinvigorated the semiconductor industry through the CHIPS and Science Act.

This authorizes $280 billion for civilian investment in the critical sector. In addition to this, investments are also made in biotechnology, domestic energy production, and the clean energy sector.

Building Coalition

To solve the mutual challenges faced by the nations, there is a need to build a strong coalition and enhance the ties between nations.

The geopolitical competition in the world has given rise to several challenges but accordingly, the window of opportunities has opened.

For an international order to be successful, there is a need for cooperation in the face of common challenges. This is possible through cooperation among nations. The strategic challenge according to the strategic plan is revisionist foreign policy.

The United States has devised a plan to engage with other nations on their terms to compete strategically with the revisionist policies while constraining Russia (due to its war with Ukraine).

Affirmative Engagement

The security strategy highlights the importance of affirmative engagement of the United States in each region. The United States is a global power with global interests that can be achieved through its engagement in each region.

The United States as an Indo-Pacific power realizes the importance of a free, interconnected, and secure region. The cooperation of the US with the countries of its region is necessary as Western Hemisphere impacts the state directly.

The enhanced efforts of cooperation and coalition between the nations will result in the prosperity of the region. In addition to the Indo-Pacific region, the integration of the Middle East is also given due importance.

The peace in the Middle Eastern region will empower the allies of the state and reduce their reliance on the U.S. The region of Africa and its growth is also mentioned to be vital to solve complex global problems.

Modernize the capabilities

The world is in an era of strategic competition that not only depends on national economic or political capacities but also military capacity. The modernization of the military’s capability and enhancing its strength is vital for the state.

As a powerful military would help to advance U.S vital interests in the world by supporting diplomacy, countering aggression, and deterring conflict.

The pacing challenge for the United States is to deter the army capacity People’s Republic of China (PRC) and constrain Russia (due to its dangerous aggression in Ukraine).

The military activities in this regard would be aligned with strategic priorities. For U.S’s ability to prevail in any conflict, a combat-credible military is a foundation. The protection of the sea, air, and space hold equal importance in the strategic plan of the U.S.

Enduring Leadership

The National Security Strategy outlines the will of the United States to continue and lead with strength. The purpose is to challenge domestic and foreign challenges into opportunities.

This idea will increase the domestic and national power of the country. The most important assets of the US are its alliances around the world. The security strategy devices plan to deepen and modernize these partnerships for national security.

The areas of technology, trade, and security between the Americana and European region would grow under this plan.

As both regions are democratic allies with shared ideas of growth. Democracy in this aspect will be given importance as it is the core of American values. The US through its enduring leadership will advance democratic norms as this inherent progress.
