US assigns new ambassador to Qatar

Doha, 5 September 2022 (TDI): According to a press release by the US Embassy in Qatar, the newly assigned US Ambassador to Qatar, Timmy T. Davis, arrived in Qatar on September 5 to take charge of the office.

It was announced by the Embassy that Ambassador Davis was sworn in as Plenipotentiary to the Qatari state on 15 August 2022.

Upon his arrival, Ambassador Davis said,

I am deeply honored to serve in this role, and I look forward to contributing to the important relationship between our two countries.  Qatar and the United States work together every day to protect the security of our two countries, promote prosperity and economic development, and build the people-to-people ties that make our relationship strong.”

Who is Timmy T. Davis?

The newly appointed Ambassador of the US to Qatar retained the position of former Special Assistant to the Secretary of State.

Davis had previously been the U.S. General consul for southern Iraq and Basra. His international trips have taken him to Bogota, Colombia; Canberra, Australia; Najaf, Iraq; and Guatemala City, Guatemala.

He was awarded several state-level distinctions and also has fluency in the languages of Arabic and Spanish.

Focusing on stronger partnership

Upon his arrival to the State of Qatar, Ambassador Davis submitted his credentials to the Foreign Minister, Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi.

While presenting the credentials to Qatar’s foreign minister, Al Muraikhi, he assured the continuous partnership between Qatar and the US. Ambassador Davis also discussed to increase cooperation in different areas.

He stressed that the US values the position of Qatar of being a potential ally of Washington D. C. The officials of the Qatar foreign ministry also presented honor to the appointed Ambassador from the United States along with other states.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Qatar also received the credentials from other ambassadors from Czech Republic, Sweden, Mali and Bangladesh.
