US Ambassador visit Punjab to strengthen bilateral ties
The United States ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome visit Punjab, Pakistan to strengthen bilateral ties between US-Pakistan

Lahore, 8 September 2023 (TDI): The United States Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome visited Punjab for 3 days to strengthen bilateral ties between Pakistan and the United States, on September 7.

Ambassador Blome, also met with business leaders, religious scholars, and Punjab caretaker, as he exchanged views on issues ranging from bilateral cooperation to human rights.

Furthermore, his duties included fostering closer ties with the people and government of Punjab and promoting trade and economic ties between the two states.

That statement describes a visit by Ambassador Blome and Consul General Hawkins to PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay Snack plant and Net Sol Technologies Ltd, where they reaffirmed the United States’ strong dedication to enhancing trade, investment, and development in Punjab.

The primary focus of this commitment was to foster engagement with the private sector.

However, he underscored the advantages of U.S. trade and in­vestment, spotlighting the significant contributions of American companies in job creation and community support.

Moreover, these endeavors include corporate social responsibility initiatives dedicated to education, healthcare, disaster relief, women’s empower­ment, and skills development.

Ambassador Blome voiced opti­mism about Pakistan’s considerable economic potential and the ongoing U.S. efforts to facilitate economic re­forms, enhancing competitiveness and readiness to tackle future challenges.

US Ambassador calls on Punjab Chief Minister

Ambassador Blome and Consul General Hawkins also engaged with Punjab’s caretaker Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, during their visit.

Moreover, the discussions revolved around expanding U.S.-Pakistan economic ties, fundamental freedoms of religious minorities, and reinforcing the princi­ples of democracy and the rule of law.

They also explored opportunities for enhancing bilateral trade and investment, agricultural collaboration, and the promotion of cooperation for historical building resto­ration.

In their meetings with representatives from various religious groups, the Ambas­sador and Consul General reiterated the United States’ condemnation of recent attacks on Christian places of worship and residences.

Separately, Ambassador Blome also met with Punjab Inspector General of Police Usman Anwar.
