US-Afghanistan agrees on Humanitarian Aid

Doha, 11 October 2021 (TDI): The Islamic Emirates of Afghanistan and the USA reached an agreement on the provision of humanitarian support to Afghanistan in the talks held in Doha.

According to the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, the representatives of the Islamic Emirate and the US held ‘candid and professional’ talks where hopes for the normalcy of diplomatic relations soon between both states rose. These were the first face-to-face meet up between the Taliban and the US government after the fall of Kabul on 15 August.

The US officials accepted to giving aid to Afghanistan and vowed to work with other welfare associations to provide humanitarian support to the people of Afghanistan. A representative for the U.S. Department of State, Ned Price stated that “the U.S. authorities talked about security, counter-terrorism concerns, secure withdrawal of US and Afghan nationals, basic freedom, significant participation of people from all walks of life with the Taliban representatives.”
