Islamabad, 21 August 2023 (TDI): On August 21, UNICEF Representative in Pakistan Abdullah Fadil met with Caretaker Federal Minister for Health Dr. Nadeem Jan to address health issues.
In the course of the meeting, the UNICEF Country Director expressed gratitude to the Minister of Health for assuming this crucial role. Moreover, Dr. Nadeem Jan commended the healthcare services provided by UNICEF.
According to Dr. Nadeem Jan, UNICEF has always been there for Pakistan through tough times. Moreover, he stated that they will make every effort to bring about effective and exemplary improvements in a short period
Caretaker Health Minister stated that the administration is dedicated to eradicating polio from the country.
Furthermore, the steps would be taken to eradicate polio from the country. And will work on an emergency basis for the eradication of polio for the prestige of our country in the community of nations.
He praised UNICEF’s work in the health sector, particularly in nutrition. “We are also implementing an integrated strategy to combat malnutrition,” he added.
Dr. Nadeem Jan said that all required precautions will be taken to protect people from sickness.

“The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) will continue to provide all possible support to the Ministry of National Health Services under the leadership of the new Minister for the improvement of the health sector,” UNICEF Country Chief Abdullah Fadil said.
Besides, the Health Minister informed that a high-level meeting on nutrition control would be placed in the United Kingdom in November of this year, during which Pakistan will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with foreign organizations.
The Minister of Health added that the government of Pakistan was implementing effective breastfeeding promotion measures. Moreover, the government also intends to launch a breastfeeding awareness campaign in Pakistan.
