New York, 10 January 2023 (TDI): The final document of the International Conference “Dialogue is a Guarantee of Peace” was published in the six official languages of the UN as an official document of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA).

The Conference was held in Ashgabat on December 11, 2022, as part of the Ashgabat International Week. The document was published under paragraph 14 Agenda “Culture of Peace” (A/77/651).

The document illustrates the fundamental objectives and tenets of the UN Charter, including the requirement to resolve conflicts peacefully.

It emphasizes the value of inclusive dialogue in all of its forms in fostering relationships and cooperation among UN member states within this context.

The UN Secretary General’s initiative to create a New Agenda for Building Peace, which is consistent with Turkmenistan’s initiative to promote the doctrine of “Dialogue as a guarantee of peace,” is also supported by the Outcome Document.

Additionally, the UN’s global strategies and programmes, particularly the joint implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, must be implemented in published document notes.

In the final document, it is underscored that neutrality policies are crucial for fostering friendly, trusting, and mutually beneficial relationships between nations and for advancing international peace and security on both a regional and global scale.

Simultaneously, the significance of preventive diplomacy is highlighted, particularly the successful initiatives of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia in Ashgabat.

This is to support international efforts to peacefully settle disputes in the interests of maintaining peace, as well as the necessity to develop and strengthen preventive diplomacy tools.

The global initiative “Dialogue is a Guarantee of Peace,” which Turkmenistan is promoting, aims to strengthen the traditions of peaceful and trusting coexistence of the world’s peoples.

Likewise, it aims to restore values and worldviews and define a culture of peace and trust as a crucial element in international relations.

The conference laid the groundwork for the launch of the Global Campaign for Dialogue as a Guarantee of Peace in 2023 and has served as a resounding affirmation that Turkmenistan puts forward significant initiatives.

It also enunciates that Turkmenistan as an active member of the international community aims to develop broad international cooperation that serves the fundamental interests of all countries & peoples but also consistently moves towards their practical realization.
