UNDP and China collaborated to recover Lebanon’s economy

Beirut, 18 August 2021 (TDI): In Lebanon, the People’s Republic of China and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) integrated under the South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund (SSCAF) with the aim to restore the social-economic damage that happened due to COVID-19. This financial aid will open doors for women and youth on priority. The aid will offer help to the entrepreneurs to meet their business needs and provide market access to companies.

In this context, the Ambassador of Beijing to Beirut, Qian Minjian, said, “As Lebanon is suffering from multiple crises, the Chinese government is partnering with UNDP to make active efforts to improve the immediate situation of Lebanon, primarily to provide support to women and youth with economic support.”

The Lebanese Republic is facing a severe crisis. According to a report more than 55% of the Lebanese population is living in poverty. The partnership of China and UNDP will result in the sustainable development of livelihood, approach to the market of China, promotion of business, strengthening of training institutions, and better online economic opportunities for the citizens of Lebanon.
