UN Special Representative concerns over escalating Taliban’s Attacks

Kabul, 10 August 2021 (TDI): On Monday, Ashraf Ghani, President of Afghanistan, and Deborah Lyons, UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, addressed the ongoing Taliban’s atrocities on Afghan civilians.

Deborah Lyons stated the United Nations calls for an immediate end to the attacks to prevent further harm to civilians. She said that Afghan officials must step up their efforts to end the conflict. She went on to say that the neighboring countries of Afghanistan can play a constructive role. They must unite and put aside their disagreements to act in the interests of peace and regional security.
