UN Secretary General concerned about Afghanistan

Newyork, 18 August 2021 (TDI): Antonio Guterres, United Nations Secretary-General, had expressed deep concerns over Afghanistan’s current human rights situation. In his messages on Twitter, he asked the Taliban and all others to comply with the utmost obligations to safeguard the lives of people in Afghanistan and that humanitarian needs must be fulfilled. According to him, hundreds of thousands of Afghans are forced to flee their homes due to serious human rights violations. He is also concerned about women and girls’ protection. “All abuses must stop,” he wrote. He further reaffirmed the pledge to contribute to a peaceful settlement and promote human rights in Afghanistan.
