Beijing, 29 October 2021 (TDI): Chinese President, Xi Jinping discussed the upcoming Climate Change Conference of the Parties with British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson. Both China and UK aim to achieve green and low-carbon development.
Telephonic Dialogue
During a phone conversation with the British Prime Minister, Xi Jinping underscored China’s commitment to green and low-carbon development. The telephonic dialogue happened on 29th October. Earlier, he also talked to the French President to discuss issues of mutual interest.
UK will host COP26
The United Kingdom is set to host the 26th United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland. The Conference is from October 31 to November 12.
Carbon Neutrality
President Xi stated that China aims to peak its carbon emissions by 2030, subsequently achieving carbon neutrality by 2060. Ergo, a series of national initiatives to expand contribution are being implemented. China has adopted profound measures to transform social and economic spheres.

Prime Minister Johnson
Prime Minister Johnson on his part enunciated that the UK values bilateral ties with China and both sides need to reinforce forthright discourse and cordial collaboration. He presented his country’s stance by pointing out that the UK is ready to deepen cooperation with China in an array of fields; economic and trade, education, clean energy.

Boris Johnson also congratulated China on the successful realization of the first part of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, in Kunming.
