Kampala, 29 October 2021 (TDI): Oryem Henry Okello, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Uganda, visited the Turkish Embassy on the 98th proclamation day of the Republic of Turkey, in Kampala. Turkish Ambassador to Uganda, Fikret Kerem Alp was also present during the ceremony.
During the meeting, the Foreign Minister of Uganda talked about the establishment of diplomatic relations between both countries. Ugandan Minister of Foreign Affairs added that both countries enjoy cordial bilateral relationships. These relationships are the outcome of high-level agreements between Uganda and Turkey, Foreign Minister said.

Moreover, the Foreign Minister of Uganda also talked about the visit of Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Uganda in 2016 during which four bilateral agreements were signed in various fields. Foreign Minister Oryem Henry Okello also shared the Ugandan Vision 2040 which sets development goals for the transformation of the country.
In the end, both country’s representatives signed a bilateral trade agreement to formalize business traffic in various fields, including textiles, agriculture, clothing, hotel and hospitality management, construction, and textiles.
Both sides pledge to use the full potential of the joint economic commission and the Turkish-Ugandan Business Council to enhance both countries’ business relationships. It will further increase understanding among the two nations.
