Turkiye Ready to Revive Istanbul Peace Process: Erdogan

Istanbul (TDI): Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, in a telephone conversation with the French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday, said that Türkiye is actively maintaining contacts with Russia and Ukraine to revive the Istanbul process.

The conversation, initiated at the French President’s request, served as a review of bilateral relations and regional stability. Both leaders emphasized the importance of deepening ties, highlighting the need for continued cooperation and strategic engagement on shared regional and global issues.

According to the Turkish authorities, Erdogan underlined that maintaining constructive cooperation with France remains a priority for Ankara; both countries will continue dialogue on shared political and security concerns.

Macron, for his part, emphasized France’s interest in sustained engagement with Türkiye, especially matters tied to European stability.

The Russia-Ukraine war was also discussed, with Erdogan mentioning that Türkiye is putting maximum efforts to help the conflict towards a just and durable settlement.

Ankara’s ongoing contact with both Kyiv and Moscow was discussed, reaffirming Türkiye’s readiness to work toward opening channels for communication and cooperation and special emphasis was made to avoid global instability.

Ankara described the conversation as part of Türkiye’s wider efforts to sustain active diplomacy with key international actors, particularly on issues where prolonged crises carry significant implications for European security and regional order.

Erdogan noted that Turkliye will remain engaged with partners and closely follow developments in Ukraine and other hotspots, emphasizing that sustained communication is essential for navigating the current period of uncertainty.
