Rawalpindi, 21 July 2022 (TDI): The Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan, Mehmet Pacaci, met the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan, General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

The meeting took place at the General Headquarters, Rawalpindi. Earlier, the Ambassador of Turkiye also called on the Chief of Naval Staff as well as the Chief of Pakistan Air Force.

Ambassador Mehmet Pacaci has replaced Ambassador Mustafa Yurdakul as the head of the mission of Turkiye in Pakistan.

The agenda of the meeting was deliberate on matters pertaining to the regional security situation, as well as mutual and professional interests.

Along these lines, he specifically emphasized defense and security cooperation between Pakitan and Turkiye. While the COAS stated that Pakistan highly values brotherly ties with Turkiye.

Ambassador Pacaci also lauded the role of Pakistan in regional stability. Moreover, he committed to playing his part in the further enhancement of diplomatic collaboration with Pakistan at all levels.

The diplomatic relationship between Pakistan and Turkiye is entrenched in cultural and religious affinities and deeply rooted in history. The two partners collaborate in a multitude of domains including military, culture, education, and economy.

Pakistan maintains an Embassy in Ankara, Honorary Consulate in Ä°zmir, and a Consulate-General in Istanbul. Whereas, Turkey has an Embassy in Islamabad and a Consulate-General in Karachi.

As of 2016, Pakistan and Turkiye have been strengthening through their close ties into a mutuall advantageous strategic partnership.

Relations between the two date back to even before the establishment of the two states. The Muslims of the Sub-continet sent financial aid to the then Ottoman Empire. Consequently, Pakistan enjoys a positive perception in Turkiye.
