Tokyo, 7 September 2021 (TDI): Tokyo Paralympics 2020 begin from August 24 to September 5 has officially come to an emotional end.
In the games, China topped the medal table with 96 gold medals and 207 medals in total. Great Britain was second with 41 golds and the USA third with 37.
The Paralympic flag was formally passed on to Paris and accepted by the city’s mayor, Anne Hidalgo, in anticipation of hosting the 2024 Games. The heir to the Japanese Emperor Naruhito, Crown Prince Akishino watched over proceedings from the stands.
The Paralympic Games were held after the postponement due to COVID-19. The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic continued for two months in the beautiful Japanese Capital city. The closing ceremony was the highlight of the entire Game.
On the occasion, the International Paralympic Committee President Andrew Parsons made an outstanding speech congratulating the Paralympians for their wins and triumphs.
After these speeches, the Paralympic Flag was handover from the IPC President, Tokyo Governor to Mayor of Paris.
The Ceremony lasted for two hours. This was a beautiful display of strength despite the challenges of pandemics as most of the stadiums were empty and with no spectators.
There were several performances including the choir of children, break-dancing, roller skating, and many others. The performers were wearing beautiful bright colors dresses and LED lights were used.

In the nation’s parade, athletes and performers were in their own cultural dresses. The athletes waved and clapped while the performers danced around them.
The night ended with the beautiful piano performance by Gohei Nishikawa where he played Louis Armstrong’s classic song “What a Wonderful World” with singers Yuina Koshio and Atsushi Okuno and signer Rimi.
