The Dominican Republic joins the UNWTO to celebrate World Tourism Day

Santo Domingo, 28 September 2021 (TDI): The Dominican Republic joined UNWTO and celebrated World Tourism Day on 27 September. According to the Dominican Republic’s Foreign Office, this year’s motto was tourism for inclusive growth. The motto means that no one should be left behind.

The Ministry remarked that tourism is fundamental for the country’s economy. Tourism is important because it has helped the Dominican Republic to diversify its economy. The Ministry stated that during the Covid-19 pandemic, that the tourism sector was the fastest to recover.

The recovery of the Tourism sector allowed the country to restore thousands of jobs. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to cooperate in the strengthening of the Dominican Republic’s tourism leadership.

The Ministry will strengthen the tourism leadership through the number 3 axis of the Dominican Foreign Policy. The axis talks about the promotion of direct foreign investment and the motivation of the exports.
