Belgium, 2nd September 2021 (TDI): President of the European Council, Charles Michel gave an enlightening speech at the opening session of the Bled Strategic Forum (BSF). He started the speech by thanking the Prime Minister and the President of Slovenia for taking part in the conference on the future of Europe, a future which would not be possible without the Western Balkans. Together, a greater European future for a better world can be achieved.
The President in his speech acknowledged BFS as the key forum for European integration. He admired the milestones achieved by European Union. European integration, beginning with the Coal and Steel Community, growing with only 6 member states to 27, added dynamism and diversity to the union. European Union is a community of collection of ideas, diversity, innovation, commonality, and solidarity.
