Beijing, 19 August 2021 (TDI): The 2nd International Symposium on China-MENA Cooperation: Deepen Friendship, and Innovation-driven Development was held on the 17th of this month. The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), the University of Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates, and the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, Saudi Arabia (KFCRIS) organized this symposium intending to enhance friendly cooperation between China and the Middle East and North Africa.
The Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue, Zhai Jun, attended the online conference along with CASS President Xie Fuzhan and KFCRIS Chairman Turki Al Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The former high-ranked representatives from Middle East countries, experts, and scholars were also part of this symposium.
Zhai Jun said that China is always ready to support and work with the Middle East. In this context, China presented various plans based on the Middle East’s long-term peace, security, and stability. He emphasized the willingness of Beijing to cooperate with the Middle East in different areas, such as overcoming the effects of COVID-19, growing the relations to a higher level, and bringing opportunities for people. Other guests acknowledged the Sino-MENA friendly relations and believed that China would play a significant role in Middle East affairs.
