Telephonic conversation between Presidents of Russia and Turkey

Moscow, 23 August 2021 (TDI): Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke over the phone with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Both Presidents expressed their condolences over the accident of a Russian Defense Ministry plane on 14 August 2021, carrying Russian and Turkish citizens. They discussed the evolving situation in Afghanistan in great detail. They also highlighted the importance of combating terrorism and the drug trade. Turkish President thanked Russia for its assistance in fighting wildfires in Turkey.

In the end, both parties agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade, economy, and energy.
