Tajikistan National Consultation Forum by UNICEF

Dushanbe, 20 November 2021 (TDI): The office of UNICEF in Tajikistan is organizing a forum to develop a national roadmap; on 19 November. That roadmap is on the digital transformation of the education system in the country.

This is a project with Tajikistan’s Ministry of Education and Science within the project of European-Union funds, to guide the implementation of digital transformation. According to UNICEF, these consultations will provide opportunities to bring together Tajik and foreigners.

The consultations also provided an opportunity to bring together private and public sector stakeholders to get involved. The stakeholders had the opportunity to involve in the discussions of the roadmap and the different commitments for the process.

The stakeholders also had the opportunity to join in concrete activities to increase the impact of the digital transformation in Tajikistan. This framework aims to achieve digital solutions for educational objectives.

Tajikistan’s Deputy Chairman of the Parliament, Mansuri Dilrabo, addressed the participants of the forum. Dilrabo stated that the willingness to reform the education system shows that Tajikistan is on the right track. According to him, the notion of digital transformation attracts involved parties to participate in the program.

PARTICIPANTS OF THE FORUM 

Around 250 participants attended the forum. Among the participants were representatives of the Executive Office of the President and the Government, and Members of the Parliament. Representatives of the Ministries, agencies, and government committees were also present in the forum.

The heads of substructures of the Tajikistan Ministry of Education and Science at the national and regional levels, school departments, and universities were also present. UNICEF Representative in Tajikistan, Osama Makkawi considered the forum to be an important step to develop a joint perspective for digital learning, through several efforts to ensure the next generation is responsive to technology.

FURTHER AIMS 

Another objective of the forum is to showcase Tajikistan’s best practices and current initiatives regarding digital transformation. It would also validate the vision and the ambition of the roadmap, and ensure national commitment.

That national commitment is towards the operationalization of the roadmap, at implementation and policy levels. According to the note, the roadmap has the objective of guiding the implementation of digital changes in the education sector. With the ownership and collaboration of Tajikistan’s Ministry of Education.

The roadmap will inform how to use properly the equipment to accelerate digital learning. It will also identify concrete steps to promote more effective digital solutions in Tajikistan. The office of UNICEF in Tajikistan has been working in the country since 1993, to help the government fulfill its obligations towards children.
