Washington DC, 28 September 2022 (TDI): The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with the Secretary of State of the United States of America Antony Blinken.

The purpose of the meeting was to negotiate the bilateral relations between Tajikistan and the United States. Both parties discussed the said relations in all significant spheres including political, economic, and humanitarian. They also exchanged mutual ties related to security cooperation. 

The Minister of Tajikistan and the Secretary of the state of the United State deliberated about the expected outlooks and opportunities that can lead to developing cooperation and beneficial relations between the stakeholders. 

They discussed the pathway toward constructive relationships within the framework of the programs of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The Minister and the Secretary of the State also seek the peace and security of the whole region. In this regard, both parties expressed concerns over the prevailing situation in Afghanistan.

At the meeting, both parties comprehended that cooperation would have to be strengthened to meet the modern challenges and threats. According to the officials, the biggest challenges and threats include terrorism, extremism, and drug trafficking.

C5+1 Platform

The parties also negotiated on the significant regional and global problems and emphasized the need to solve these issues. The Foreign Minister and the Secretary of the State of the US also highlighted the role and significance of the C5+1 platform. 

Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan can use this platform as an effective tool to deal with the border situation. Both agreed that this podium is of great importance for the entire region.

 The C5+1 is a platform that brings five states of Central Asia and the United States together on board. The platform is useful for negotiating common issues and concerns.
