Islamabad, 13 August 2021 (TDI): Swiss Ambassador to Pakistan and Afghanistan, Bénédict de Cerjat congratulated Justice Ayesha Malik, Lahore High Court’s Judge, on becoming the first woman to serve in the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Justice Ayesha Malik was nominated by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmad and a committee of judges will be convened for this purpose.
The elevation of Justice Ayesha Malik to the Supreme Court office is an important occasion, especially for Pakistani women as this occasion may set an example and empower more Pakistani women in their judicial careers.
Justice Ayesha Malik is going to replace Justice Mushir Alam, who will retire on the 17th of August. The Judicial Committee will meet on 9 September and Justice Ayesha Malik will be promoted to the bench of the Supreme Court.
