Sri Lankan and British Ministers discuss Trade and Domestic Reconciliation Process

New York, 27 September 2021 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka, Gamini Lakshman Peiris meets British Minister of State for South Asia, United Nations, and the Commonwealth, Tariq Mahmood Ahmad, Baron Ahmad of Wimbledon.

Both Ministers discussed the Sri Lanka mission at the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. The Ministers discussed a wide range of issues including trade, investment opportunities available in Port City. They also discussed the resumption of tourism, and matters relating to development and reconciliation with particular reference to relations with the diaspora.

Minister Peiris briefed Lord Ahmad in detail about the substantial progress on the ground in a variety of sectors and domestic institutions. Minister Peiris also invited Lord Ahmed to see the developments on the ground. Lord Ahmad accepted with pleasure the invitation to visit Sri Lanka at his early convenience.
