Dubai, 6 September 2022 (TDI): The Sri Lankan cricket team has qualified for the final of Asia Cup 2022 by beating the Indian cricket team by 6 wickets. Both teams played their second match of the Super Four round on Tuesday.

Sri Lanka won the toss and put India to bat first. This was the first time that both teams were playing against each other in Asia Cup 2022.

India played with Rohit Sharma (C), Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant (WK), Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Deepak Hooda, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, and Yuzvendra Chahal.
Sri Lankan team included Dasun Shanak (C), Kusal Mendis (WK), Prathum Nissanka, Charith Asalanka, Danushka Gunathilaka, Wanindu Hasaranga, Chamika Karunaratne, Maheesh Theekshana, Asitha Fernando and Dilshan Madhushanka.
India opened with Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul. KL Rahul got out early and made only 6 runs. Then came Virat Kohli who got out for a duck.
On the other side, Rohit Sharma played a brilliant knock and anchored the Indian innings. He scored quick-fire 72 runs off just 41 balls. He made a solid partnership with Suryakumar Yadav who made 34 runs.
Indian team reached a total of 173 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Dilshan Madhushanka took 3 wickets for just 24 runs in his 4 overs. It was an important match for Sri Lanka as it would decide whether Sri Lanka will play the final or not.
In response, Sri Lankan openers gave a great start and both of them scored half centuries. The opening partnership was 97 runs. After that, Sri Lanka lost some quick wickets.
The match came down till the last over. Arshdeep Singh bowled the final over and 7 runs were needed off it. He bowled 4 good deliveries and 2 runs were needed off the last two balls.
Then Arshdeep bowled the last bowled to Dasun Shanaka and Sri Lanka won on the 2nd last delivery of the last over. Sri Lanka will now play the final of the Asia Cup 2022.

This win will definitely give a boost to the Sri Lankan team for the final. If Pakistan wins against Afghanistan, Pakistan will face Sri Lanka in the final.
