Dubai, 5 September 2022 (TDI): Pakistan and India faced each other in the Super Four round of the Asia Cup 2022 on September 4.

This was the second time that both these teams faced each other in Asia Cup 2022. Pakistan beat India by 5 wickets.

Pakistan team included Babar Azam (C), Shadab Khan, Muhammad Rizwan (WK), Fakhar Zaman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Khushdil Shah, Muhammad Nawaz, Asif Ali, Haris Rauf, Muhammad Hasnain, and Naseem Shah.

Indian team played with Rohit Sharma (C), KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant (WK), Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Deepak Hooda, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ravi Bishnoi, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Arshdeep Singh.

Pakistan won the toss and put India to bat first. Openers gave a quick start to India. Virat Kohli was the pick of a batsman from the Indian team.

He scored 60 runs on just 44 balls. This was Virat Kohli’s 4th half-century against Pakistan and 2nd in the Asia Cup 2022.

India scored 182 runs in their allotted 20 overs. From Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz took 1 wicket for 25 runs and Shadab Khan took 2 wickets for 31 runs in his 4 overs.

In response, the Pakistan team had a slow start and Babar Azam was dismissed inside the powerplay for the third time in Asia Cup 2022.

On the other side, Rizwan anchored his innings and scored his 2nd half-century of the Asia Cup. He scored 71 quick runs on just 51 balls.

The match came down to the wire and Pakistan needed 7 runs in the last over. 5 runs were scored on the first 3 balls and then Asif Ali got out on the 4th ball. Iftikhar Ahmed came to the crease and hit straight for 2 runs and took Pakistan to victory.

Muhammad Nawaz was declared Player of the Match for his all-round performance. He took 1 wicket for 25 runs, scored 42 off 20 balls, and took 3 catches on the field.

Pakistan will face Afghanistan on 7 and Sri Lanka on 9 September. The final of the Asia Cup 2022 will be played on 11 September. To confirm its place in the final of Asia Cup 2022, Pakistan needs to win the remaining two matches.

Otherwise, there will be different possibilities if Pakistan wins only 1 out of the two remaining matches. If Pakistan loses both upcoming matches, Pakistan will be out of Asia Cup 2022.
