Sri Lanka and Maldives felicitate Nepal on its Independence Day

Kathmandu, 20 September 2021 (TDI): Sri Lanka and the Maldives send warm greetings on the auspicious occasion of the Independence Day of Nepal.

The government of both countries wished the people and Government of Nepal. Both countries sent warm greetings for the peace, progress, and prosperity of Nepal. Nepal gained Independence from Great Britain in 1923.

Nepal and Sri Lanka established Diplomatic Relations on 1 July 1957. Sri Lanka has had a residential Embassy in Kathmandu since 1993. Relations between Colombo and Kathmandu are marked by goodwill, mutual understanding, and cooperation.

Diplomatic relations between Nepal and Maldives were established on 1 August 1980. Both countries are members of The South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC). They have been playing instrumental roles in the evolution of regional cooperation in South Asia. On this auspicious occasion, Sri Lanka and the Maldives wished for enhanced relations with Nepal.
